Here at Azadi Network, we take pride in acting as a mouthpiece for the Iranian community, particularly in our exchanges with Parliament. On the 7th April 2023, we held a meeting with the UK representatives of the main groups within the Iranian community, so as to discuss their diverse and individualised/shared concerns. As always, Azadi Network ensured that the views of Iranian religious and ethnic minorities were paid rightful attention to. Thus, the following groups were solicited: Baluchistan Human Rights; KDP; Voice of Iran; United4Mahsa; Iranian Association Scotland; WomanLifeFreedom Manchester; Association of Iranian Human Rights and Allies; Beiransvoice; WomanLifeFreedom London. In summary, we were able to reach a consensus upon a set of prioritised requests that the Iranian community as a whole had from the UK government, which we then included in our draft policy proposal. Other important outcomes were our ability to enhance unity within the Iranian community, and to create policy groups on Women’s Rights in Iran, the IRGC, Environmental concerns, etc.
